At the heart of the Northern Circuit of Villa Clara, Cuba—just 8 kilometers from Sagua la Grande—lies the small village of Jumagua. With a population of barely 400, this place bears witness to a work of God that began over a decade ago and which, today—grounded in sound Reformed doctrine—continues to bear fruit.
It was in 2012 that this church was planted, marking the very first pastoral charge for the man who is now Pastor Ángel Daniel. “This was our first pastorate; from there, we went on to plant churches in Isabela de Sagua and Quemado de Güines in 2016,” he recalls. What began as a single seed in Jumagua has blossomed into a movement for the expansion of the Gospel throughout the region.
Since 2023, the congregation has been under the pastoral care of missionaries Enrique Lorenzo Santana and Ángela González. They have embraced this ministry with dedication, shepherding a faithful flock that currently gathers some 40 adult members, alongside a vibrant group of children who constitute a vital part of the community.
The ministry in Jumagua is not confined to Sundays alone. The accompanying images reveal the dynamic life of the church through various worship services, ongoing ministry with the children, and a beautiful gesture of love for one’s neighbor: a shared breakfast provided for the local community.
Today, although Pastor Ángel Daniel now serves as a District Pastor, his heart continues to rejoice as he witnesses the faithfulness of the missionaries and the continued growth of that very first church plant. Jumagua stands as a living testament to how the Lord builds His house—generation after generation—and how a small village can shine with its own distinct light within the Northern Circuit.
We give thanks to God for the work He is doing in Jumagua!
