The Spring Bible School, organized by the Second Baptist Church of the Barrio África neighborhood, was a resounding success. Held under the theme, “If God Is With Me, I Will Defeat the Giant!”, the three-day event saw children and their families participate in activities that blended biblical instruction, recreation, and reflection—all inspired by the story of David and Goliath.
Day One: “David” on the Big Screen The opening day brought together 23 children, who enjoyed a screening of the Christian children’s film *David*. The movie recounts the youth of the future King of Israel and his unwavering trust in God as he prepared to face the Philistine giant. As it is written: “The Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle belongs to the Lord” (1 Samuel 17:47).
Day Two: Fearless, With Faith Attendance rose to 38 children for the second session, titled “If God Is With Me, I Have No Fear.” Through interactive activities and games, the children learned to place their trust in the Lord when facing adversity. The central scripture verse for the day was: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God who strengthens you” (Isaiah 41:10).
Day Three: An Outdoor Excursion For the grand finale, 54 children participated in an excursion titled “David: The Shepherd-King,” where they learned more about the life of God’s anointed one—from his days tending sheep to his reign as king. Prior to their departure, a workshop was held for parents and family members titled “When Parents Justify Everything, Children Lose Their Way.” This session was grounded in the biblical principle: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
Summary and Spiritual Fruit Total attendance over the three days reached 105 children. Church leadership reported that 36 children accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior—a testament to the spiritual fruit borne from the seeds that were sown. As the Scripture declares: “I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging for bread” (Psalm 37:25).
The Second Baptist Church of Barrio África expressed its gratitude to the parents for their trust, and to the brethren who made this spring school possible—an event that left an indelible mark on the children of the community. But above all, thanks be to God for guiding this time; to Him be the glory. Amen.
