Located on the Northern Circuit, 18 kilometers from Sagua, lies the small village of Viana. There—in a place where it might seem the world simply passes by—the love of God has shone forth with a light all its own. Some 15 brothers and a group of children gather every week—not by chance, but because the Lord has been good in sending His messengers.
As Romans 10:14 states: “And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” For this reason, God—in His faithfulness—placed in the hearts of missionaries Alieski Bonilla and Yaimaris Gutiérrez, along with other missionaries, the task of bringing His Word to this community. They are the living answer to Jesus’ promise: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
The Lord’s goodness is made manifest every time the brothers and sisters gather, and every time the children learn of His love. Neither distance nor limited resources matter; God provides whatever is needed. In Viana, the seed of the Gospel has been planted and is taking root. For wherever God sends, He sustains. And wherever there are willing ears, He provides someone to proclaim His message of salvation.
We give thanks to God for His faithfulness, and for missionaries who—like Alieski and Yaimaris—serve as instruments of His grace in every corner of this land.
