Time has passed since that little boy who came to Jesus with his 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. forbid them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like them or even more since those days when our Lord, the Creator of the Universe, was lying in a humble manger as a helpless infant, not considering being of the same substance as the Father, as something to cling to and coming into this world, a small fragment of His creation, like that slain lamb, prepared even before the foundation of the world. But then and in the manger, a child at last.
And if Childhood has such an impact and value in Scripture, it is no wonder then that the Church also devotes not only its time, efforts and resources to children’s ministry, it should.
The well-known portion of the Jewish Shema in Deuteronomy 6 speaks of the imperative need for children’s instruction, that the law, the moral character of God, not only be in our hearts, but also in the hearts of our children.
It should be our goal to be able to say about our adults in a few years:
“and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15 NKJV1960
That is why Torch of Salvation Baptist Church has a strong emphasis on bringing the Gospel to children. This has been evidenced by the development of a recurring evangelistic program in the mission in Las Tosas. A group of teachers and the missionaries of the place have led a program designed with biblical stories, expressed in simplicity, so that children of different ages can understand the glorious message of the Gospel. Something that excites them is also to see so many family members arrive and listen, accompanying the children, to the message.
“I have been serving the Lord in children’s ministry for several years, I am passionate about this service! -and something that we always see with great joy is that, as perhaps in no other age group ministry, is how the children are able to involve the rest of the family in their activities.
AWARE of the Lord’s command to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15 NKJV; and with hope in the power of the gospel, these teachers travel miles to reach children with the gospel message.
May the truth be rooted in the minds and hearts of the Church who are also our infants today. Hence, from that reason, our work, our love, our service, our goal.
